As the daughter of a Fashion Illustrator, I always dreamt of a career somehow involving beautiful garments. From sewing outfits for my American Girl Dolls at age 8, to making my own outfits to wear each day in my first-period high school Fashion Design class, I have always had a passion for the things we wear, the stories they tell, and how they can make us feel.
Early in my career I pursued this passion by working as a Personal Stylist, a job that gave me great joy and fulfillment as I helped women find outfits that made them look and feel their best. I moved on to working in Apparel Design and Product Development for various apparel brands, where I honed my technical design skills and learned magnitudes about apparel manufacturing and textiles.
Feeling like my career was still missing something, I started working as a Wardrobe Stylist on the weekends, and before long I realized I finally felt connected with my purpose again. I loved it so much, eventually I quit my job to pursue Costume Design full time.
I have since worked on large and small sets, styled actors renowned and undiscovered, but best of all I have found a career that I am truly passionate about. I love telling stories through the things characters wear. Whether it is a large scale feature film or a small scale commercial, I love crafting the small personal details in what each character wears that tell the larger story of who they are, where they came from, and where they are going.
In the future, I hope to be able to continue to work on projects that I am passionate about, with people who challenge me to be my best, by simply being theirs.
